The Pussygrabber’s Swansong

I can’t be the only one to notice the irony that the first foreign country the Pussygrabber visited as President is one where all women have a legal male guardian who has the power to make important decisions on their behalf – where to live, work, whom to marry, what kind of access to health care they have. This is a country that is ranked 141 out of 144 in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap. As I watched the hoo hah around the Pussygrabber bowing to receive a medal from the King, the absence of Saudi women at the ceremony was notable.

And yet, I can smile again. The crazy events taking place at the White House right now have filled me with hope that soon he will be shown the door. Perhaps the arc of justice is not so long after all. I spend my evenings watching clips of Bill Meyer, Trevor Noah, SNL……

One only wishes that the UK could provide such light relief. Instead we have May appearing round the country like the grim reaper telling people quite openly that the  attack on the weakest members of our society will continue relentlessly should she – and it is only her out in the spot light – although we did get a brief glimpse of Boris in an orange turban last week insulting Sikhs in their temple – be re elected.

This is what we have to look forward to should May win a huge majority –

exit from the EU and a loss of our EU citizenship rights

the continuing dismantling of the NHS

losing of free school meals for young children

our elderly relatives having to fund their own care

The Tory’s since 2008 have gradually robbed most of us of any kind of safety net for when …and it is when not if … we get old or sick…..They have made getting any kind of state assistance humiliating and traumatic. Those living with disabilities and long term illnesses have been been forced into an unbearable existence as their support has been gradually eroded. Schools have seen their funding cut, adult education has been slashed ….this has greatly reduced any chance of social mobility. And the rise in food banks and the number of homeless people on the street is scandalous for a nation that has such wealth. And while all this goes one we have very little outrage expressed in the media? where is our Bill Meyer or Trevor Noah? Where is our equivalent of The View where women discuss intelligently what is happening in politics in the states? Where is our Washington Post or New York Times? Instead we get ‘balanced’ coverage that spends more time running down Jeremy Corbyn than taking the Tories to task. The BBC falls over itself to not show bias which means giving more air time talking about Corbyn faults than examining what the Tories are doing. May appears on the One Show and is allowed to talk shoes and yet she won’t appear on a TV debate to discuss issues.

And where are our demonstrators on the street. where is the outrage at what is happening in this country?

High rents. Outrageous house prices. Cuts to NHS. Loss of Eu citizenship. Exhorbitent student fees. Zero hours contracts. Unpaid internships. Cuts to trade union rights….

All of these things should provoke outrage. All of these things should galvanise people into fighting and yet there is barely a murmur. Is it because CCTV cameras are able to capture every move and getting arrested for merely protesting doesn’t look so good on a CV? Or Is it that people think Corbyn is so weak as a leader that May is a better alternative? Hmmm this country has a fetish for the strict nanny type… Thatcher played the role for years and May does a mere pale imitation and yet people lap it up….

There should be collective disgust at how this country treats its weak and vulnerable members of society. But instead, if you look at the polls, people want this to continue.

Thank heavens for YouTube. I can look at Bill Meyer and wish he were here.
